Good morning. Expo West wrapped last Friday, but we’re still digesting it (🥁). The natural products event drew 60K+ attendees and 3K+ exhibitors, and the themes were clear: transparency, nostalgic comfort and brands stacking functional benefits into everyday foods. Expect protein and fiber in unexpected places as brands chase satiety in the GLP-1 era, dates and mushrooms going mainstream and beef tallow slipping into the snack aisle.
Also this week: Meta acquired Moltbook, a Reddit-like social network for AI agents, less than two months after launch. Its creators - Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr (formerly of Mashable and CNET) - are joining Meta’s new Superintelligence Lab, which aims to build machines more powerful than the human brain. We have more questions than answers, but we’ll be watching the experiment from a safe distance.
